Players Got a Point, Playing in Ten, but Were Long Reaching For Three

Both head-coaches prepared a surprise in the opening line-up. Boleslav's Uhrin unexpectedly placed Holub alongside Kulič to the forward line and drew the striker Pecka into the central line. Liberec's Lavička left Matula, Hamouz, Pospěch and Holenda on the bench and placed Blažek and Parks into the forward line.

First greater chance of Boleslav came already in the 6th minute. Holub did not reach Kulič's centre pass at the goal area and Pecka could not manage to focus on a resolute ending so Čech, the goalkeeper of Liberec, caught the ball without any difficulties. Three minutes later Liberec answered by Parks' action, which was ended by Frejlach shot outside the goal.

In the 28th minute after an encounter for the ball in the half of the pitch near the side line Kysela was disqualified because of the slide against Bílek. The verdict of German referee seemed to be strict in the first moment, but in further progress of the first half it appeared to be downright overhasty since a similar action of Liberec's Pudil was left unpunished and Parks' slide from the back against Rajnoch was punished just by a yellow warning. "Kysela's disqualification was too strict," remarked Boleslav's head-coach Uhrin after the game. His Liberec's colleague did not want to comment the referee's verdict. "They used double standards," said Lavička on the address of the German referees.

In the following powerplay, Liberec came to the shooting chances more often. Miller defected Frejlach's smashing over the crossbar, Parks' shot churned up the side net, Bílek's hard centre shot went across the goal area and Pudil's bomb shot closely missed the left post of the Miller's goal. It remained unstained for more than an hour of the game.

In the 55th minute Kulič shot a corner kick, Rolko and Zápotočný were reaching for it to no effect, but Abraham successfully headered the ball near the further post - 0:1. That was a great encouragement for the Uhrin's weakened team. Boleslav players defended this narrow lead with a lot of concentration and let their rival shoot only from the distance. Parks's failed chance at the goal area after Papoušek's centre shot was an exception. Boleslav's players successfully managed to keep Liberec's defenders busy by the break attempts. In the 72nd minute Pecka quickly passed the penalty kick at the half of the pitch, Matějovský perfectly sidestepped Zápotočný and headed alone for the goalkeeper Čech, who ran out timely and saved his goal at the cost of a corner kick. Five minutes later after this moment Liberec equalized. From the twenty-metre distance Bílek aimed precisely beside the right post, where Miller could not reach - 1:1. Shortly before the end, Miller once more helped his team after Zápotočný's viperish shot.
